Irvine Lake is a water-supply reservoir first
Irvine Ranch Water District describes Irvine Lake as a roughly 700-acre reservoir holding more than 9 billion gallons. It was built in 1931 for agricultural water supply and opened to fishing about a decade later.

The official Irvine Lake pages do not give enough species detail
The current primary Irvine Lake page includes “sturgeon” in its species list, while the separate official FAQ lists bass, catfish, carp, bluegill and crappie without mentioning sturgeon.
OC Parks does not identify which sturgeon species is present on the main page.
