Castaic trout fishing is strongly seasonal
California Department of Water Resources says Castaic, Pyramid and Silverwood are seasonally stocked with rainbow trout. Castaic typically receives trout from late October into early May, although exact timing changes by year.

Old “100% dry before launch” information is no longer the full current protocol
Some older Castaic pages still say every vessel is inspected on arrival and must be completely dry. Los Angeles County’s newer policy says Castaic and Pyramid are now considered infested with invasive mussels, so the inspection workflow has changed.
